General Questions

Just answer – plain text or attachment that your tutor delivers by the due date (deadline). A simple way to get the answer to a question, task or equation you don’t know.

Video tutorial – is similar to “Just answer”, but you receive your answer in the form of a video file. Tutor records a video answer to your question using our in-house Whiteboard technology. You can watch it any time you want.

If you don’t have time for an online session and your question needs visual explanation – our video tutorial option would be the best fit.

Online session – is an online class with a tutor that takes place in the virtual classroom equipped with an innovative in-house Whiteboard technology, voice and text chat features. The student can choose the most suitable time and date for the session from tutors’ available hours.

In order to have a tutoring session both the student and the tutor must be logged in to access the virtual classroom.

  • To effectively use our Whiteboard technology you will need:

GETTING STARTED

In order to apply with Tidewater Tutors, all candidates are expected to be in their senior year of college or have already graduated from an accredited US or Canadian University.

It takes the Tidewater Tutors team up to 3 business days to review and consider an application. You will receive an email stating whether your application has been approved or declined.

If your application is approved you can log into your account at Tidewater Tutors and build your profile to be displayed to students and parents.

To be able to choose a tutor students need to make the payment for the order. You will receive an email saying the student has chosen you and paid for the order.

You can change your schedule in the Settings section of your profile. Make all the necessary changes in the schedule window and do not forget to press the ‘Save’ button. If you cannot do that, contact our support team at support@tidewatertutors.com and we will help you.

At Tidewater Tutors, you decide how many hours per week you would like to work. There is no required minimum number of hours when a tutor should be online so you can make your schedule as flexible as you want it to be.

When you decide to book a client, please make sure you have enough time to complete them within the agreed deadline, or this may affect your rating score with parents and result in not being able to be active to clients on our site. Be reliable and on time to tutoring appointment bookings.

Many different factors affect your profile’s position on the list, with your tutor rating being the most important. The more orders you successfully complete - the better rating you will have.

To cancel your account, please press the “Cancel my account” button in the "Settings" section. We will review the account and if there are no obligations left from your side, your account will be canceled within 3 business days. If there are any obligations left to tutors or students, we will contact you to settle the matter.

Tidewater Tutors is just a marketplace. We don’t guarantee a certain number of orders you’ll get to work on as it all depends on your experience and fields of your proficiency. Note that we can’t control the flow of orders because it’s seasonal.

Meanwhile, there’s an oversupply of online tutors. Because this is such a high-paying opportunity, we have more tutors in our database than we have work opportunities. So if you want to be successful, you have to be proactive and apply for public Eduboard orders that are available.

DEADLINE

Answer

You decide how long it will take you to complete a particular order. Please pay attention to the deadline stated by the student. The deadline countdown starts only after the student accepts tutor’s application and pays for the order.

The due date is calculated in the following way:

Time&date when the student paid for the order + deadline stated by the tutor

Example:
The student paid on the 23rd of Feb, 2012 15:12 (-8:00 GMT). The tutor that the student chose stated a 12-hour deadline. The due date for such order is: 24th of Feb, 2012 03:12 (-8:00 GMT). The due date will be shown in your account using the time zone checked in you Settings, so please carefully adjust this option.

The information about the order will contain the due date for the order and time left to complete it. When the order is paid, you will receive an email specifying the deadline.

Before the student accepts your application and pays for the order: deadline is the preferable amount of time for which the student wants to have the order completed. The deadline countdown starts only after choosing a tutor and paying for the order.

After the student accepts your application and pays for the order: deadline is the time that the tutor has to complete this order.

  • When you commit to a online appointment with a client make sure you arrive in the classroom 10 minutes early to have everything properly working and materials in order for your session.
  • All tutors MUST leave feedback about the session in your Profile under Student Reviews. You must submit a brief paragraph outlining what you covered in the session, how well the student responded to the information and any follow up you feel the student could benefit from in regards to the subject within 12 hours of the session.
  • NO SHOW POLICY
  • Any tutor that has more than 2 No Shows (NS) will have their account automatically deactivated and will not be able to be on the site.
  • If you need to CANCEL/RESCHEDULE a session you need to give the client at least 24 hour notice via our online communication form.

PAYOUTS

PayPal ID is your PayPal email address.

To change your PayPal ID please log into your tutor account and go to the “Payments” section. At the upper left corner of the window, you will see the question mark icon. Press it and enter your new PayPal ID number. Within 3 business days after your request is sent, we will change your PayPal ID.

The minimum balance for monthly payout is $10. If you have less than $10 on your Tidewater Tutors balance, this amount is automatically included into the next month’s payout. Note that small PayPal fees may apply. For more information regarding fees, please contact PayPal.

Please note that you are not officially employed with Tidewatertutors.com, meaning you are self-responsible for reporting and paying taxes on your income. You choose the best way to do that.

The commission that PayPal charges is based on the amount of money you receive per month and on your local currency. You can check the commission payable for any particular PayPal country on the local PayPal site.

To create an order, you need to be a registered student of Tidewatertutors. Just post your question in our “Get an Answer” form and specify the problem. Our tutors will get back to you shortly offering their help. You will be able to choose one based on their qualifications and price and discuss the order details and deadlines.
